My front is giving me a lot of problems. I had the cables replaced with the front and back re-adjusted before my first ride this year. It shifted like new for the first ride. The next ride a couple of days later as soon as I got on the bike it is very noisy as the chain is dragging the inside of the front derl'r. I tried several different front and back combinations avoiding extreme angles, it won't even drop down into the smallest chain ring (which was loose!) The shifting and noise was erratic, like the derl'r was assuming different positions with the same chain rings. Once in awhile you would get a good shift, next time not.
Did the cable relax while the bike is sitting changing the adjustment? I am going to take it back today but I am wondering if both der/'r and shifter should be replaced instead of another adjustment. They are the stock Shimano (deore?) that was installed at the factory. 3 years old.
The first season with this bike I had no problems. last year I would have to get I adjusted every third ride or so.
