Is it ok to use a 9spd link on a 10spd chain?

I accidentally broke the master link (a.k.a reusable missing link) on my 10psd KNC x-10 chain. Since I only had a SRAM 9spd replacement link, i used that to connect the chain. I rode 30 Km without any issue, but is it a good idea to leave the 9spd link in place, or should i replace it with a dedicated 10spd link?

You should go grab a few of the 10 speed masterlinks, not the best idea to use a 9spd since its wider. With that said....If you were stranded out in the middle of nowhere and only had the 9spd link...then by all means use it as a last resort. Just not worth the potential riskif you can easily access the 10spd links.

it will work as a stop gap the internal plate spacing is the same 9 or 10 speed - A mate bust his 10 speed chain a couple of weeks ago and we couldn't get the pin back in properly with a crappy multi tool chain breaker so I ended up putting my spare 9 speed SRAM power link in for him - it got him home fine and better than riding with a stuck link- it is noticeably wider than the chain though.
