Odyssey JCPC pedals for XC use?
I would like to give platform pedals another try after riding several years with SPDs, and these pedals intrigue me. I used to ride BMX and I am familiar with the great quality of Odyssey/ G-sport components. these have a huge spindle, a bushing system instead of bearings, they are light and relatively thin. has anyone tried them for mtb use?

I work at a bike shop and I can't get products from Deity, or I would probably do that. my choice now is a toss-up between the JCPC and Wellgo LU-A52. I am just wondering if there is some major disadvantage to the JCPC as an XC pedal (with the right shoes of course) that would make me want to skip them.

nah with some sticky soled shoes you'll be fine. the deity are knockoffs, nukeproof has some as well as HT. I like them becasue for a plastic pedal they are pretty thin and the metal pins are a plus!

Those JCPC pedals look pretty interesting, plastic body with metal pins. I've always hated the way plastic pedals/pins feel so the metal pins would be a good upgrade. The bushing system could work well but I could also see it getting really gunked up with dirt, especially this time of year.
If you werent looking for something you could use your employee discount on I'd heartily recommend HT AN01 pedals ($40 shipped on ebay) or their Forte Convert clones ($40-50 at Performance).
For stuff you should be able to get through existing distributor channels that is pretty cheap, check out:
DMR V8s - easily rebuildable, smaller platform ~$30
VP Components pedals - these are rebadged HT pedals. The Vice looks awesome, VP69 as well as a slightly cheaper pricepoint. $60-70
Fyxation also sells a few rebadged HT pedals at great prices $40+
