New Rear Derailleur Installation - Binding and stretching in low gear

    Hi Everyone,

Sorry if this is a repost, but I did not know what terms to search for. I'm installing a new rear derailleur on my bike (Windsor Cliff 4500) and I've been able to grasp high and low adjustments, barrel adjustments as well as the B screw. However, in low gear the derailleur seems to "stretch out" and looks unnatural, leading to the chain binding. I think the derailleur needs to be rotated clockwise, but cant figure out how to adjust it as it seems to move back to its forward position when I let go.

Appreciate any help you guys can give a newbie!

Thank you guys, I'll try that today. Chain is not dropped down into the spokes in those photos but I can see how it looks like it, the chain is just between cogs. Is it possible that this chain is too short even though it was fine with the previous configuration, which had the same dimensions/gears? Appreciate the help!

Closure: I accidentally grabbed the old chain off of my GT 21 speed, this is a 24 speed. Grabbed the right chain and it works like a dream. Thanks again for the help!
