    New Drivetrain questions

Ok I am going to swap out my drivetrain on my trek ex5 and I am wondering what you guys think. I was thinking going xt front and rear derailleurs and slx crank with my current x5 shifters and sram 990 cassett. Or should I go x9 front and rear derailleurs and probably a x7 crank with my x5 shifters and sram 990 cassett. I know for sure I will probably be able to save atleast 70 bucks going with the shimano stuff.

XT rear derailleurs and Sram shifters are not compatable.

ok so I will go for sure with the x9 front and rear set up. Then probably go slx crank since its cheaper then the x7 and x9

Here is a good combo that works awesome when setup properly. I know, I'm using it.

Sram X7 rear derailleur - no performance difference between the X7 and X9
Sram X9 shifters - more precise and the throw is a tad shorter than the X7's
Shimano SLX Crank - this thing shifts awesome
Shimano XT front derailleur - I think, as well as many others, that the XT is probably the best FD on the market with out going up in component level.

the x9 front derailleur is awesome as well

i have a high clamp, bottom pull 34.9 X9 if you want to buy it.

    feel free to pm me.

but yeah, i deff reccomend going with sram over shimano for the rear derailler

even though they aren't compatible any ways

If you have stuff for sale, buy a classified add. No parts for sale spamming.
