New Chain Time? Which one?

I'm curious if I should go ahead and replace the chain on my c'dale RZ120.

Its got about 1k miles on it. My normal XC trail network has about 4 water crossing on it. I run a 3x10 set-up consisting of new FSA front rings and new SLX cassette. I have a new XTR Shadow Plus derailleur en route. So essentially an all new drivetrain except for the chain.

I've been lubing/cleaning it regularly and it never gave me any issues until today during a tame road ride around my 'hood. I experienced a moment of chain suck while shifting into the big ring. Never had that happen before . . .

I'm thinking just replace the chain and keep the old one as a spare.

Now, which one to get? I am thinking XT or XTR . . .

I'm sure others would argue, but I don't think your choice in chain is nearly as important as how you treat/maintain it. I do like fully plated chains as they're much more resistant to corrosion.

I do think you should put a new chain with the new drivetrain.

I second KMC. Use on my road and mtb, great chain for the money and lasts longer than SRAM.
