    New Chain issues

I just got a new sram chain. I was told that I might have to replace the cogset if it has been worn out by the chain.

Well, I got the chain on and it does not seem to slip on the cogset. Although, it seems to stick to the crankset but only on the middle gear (a lot of noise). I have lubed it a little with white lightin.

Can anyone tell me what is going on?

    Thanks,
    Brad

The middle ring gets most of the wear on most MTBs. It sounds like yours may be worn out. Individual replacement rings can be had cheap if you shop around.

If you clean and lube the chain frequently, check it for "stretch" and replace it before it gets too worn, you can avoid replacing the cogs and chainrings.

Thanks for the help. I was assuming that the cogset would go bad before the chainring.
