    MTB shifters on roadbar?

Has anybody info on fitting (modifying?) MTB shifters to fit a road 26.0 mm roadbar?
Want to run the shifters on the flat part of the bar. Have drillpress available.
    Thanks in advance,

I don't think there is enough "meat" on the clamp of a mtn shift lever (22.2 I/D) to be bored out to 26.0. Your best bet is to use Paul Component's Thumbies for 26.0 bars. They are an adapter that clamps to the stem clamp area of a drop bar (the main diameter of a road bar where the levers attach is 24.0). You then mount a Shi-man-oe bar end shifter to the Thumbie and viola, thumb shifters for road bars.
