Maverick ML8 Conversion to 1 X 9 (or 1 X 10?) ??
Thinking hard about converting my 2010 ML8 from 3 X 9 (actually 2 X 9 with bash) to 1 X 9 with bash. Currently 32/22T in front, 64 X 104 (4 bolt) BCD. Probably would go to 28T in front, to keep low end ratio as low as possible. Looks like inner ring position (22T) is the better place for a single ring, regarding chainline. Tired of chain coming off the 32T middle ring, (probably because of the constantly moving front derailleur) and of course interested in the reduced weight, etc. Looked at forum about the expensive Widgit, otherwise it seems hard to find info about my specific application. I have a lot of 9 speed parts, so hoping to stay 9, but it seems that there may be better options in the 10 speed family, including the 36T cassette, which would help with the low end ratio, obviously a concern in technical riding. Any help would be MUCH appreciated !!!
I have a 9 speed cassette with 12-36 teeth. Are you sure the inside position is best for the chainline? That doesn't seem to make sense. Wouldn't a ring in the middle position keep the chain straighter? The issue with that position, though, is you would have to get a 30 tooth ring.

Yeah, it says 'Designed for 29" wheeled bikes' but that just didn't make sense to me so I bought it anyways and it works fine.
