M780 Double or Triple to run Single Ring?

I sure this has been asked before but I couldnít find a conclusive answer. Iím currently buying bits for a new build which I plan to run 1x10.

Am I better off with a double or triple for chainlines etc.

And how much difference will I notice running 170mm arms having always used 175mm? All the frames Iím looking at have pretty low bottom brackets.

Can't really answer the first question because my only experience is converting a triple into a single.

As for the crank arm length, I switched from 175 mm to 170 mm and didn't notice much of a difference. As I'm sure you know, it's a tradeoff--you're technically sacrificing a small amount of leverage in order to gain a small amount of clearance.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy another 170 mm crankset, but I also wouldn't hesitate to purchase one with 175 mm arms.
