I'm considering a used Trek mtb, & this is what the owner is telling me:
bottom bracket square taper is steel, the crank arm is (aluminum) alloy. The damage he is talking about is the square-hole in the crank, right? Al will get damaged before the steel square taper..?and it's needed a new bottom
bracket the whole time so we never used it. Specifically, one of the square
tapers is rounded, so the crank on that side has far too much play. Other than
that it should ride fine, as far as I can tell.
The damage means this requires a new crank.. He is saying a new bottom-bracket..??
