My buddy has a practically brand new bike with XO trigger shifters. The rear shifter seems to be slipping or not quite catching the ratcheting mechanism after only 5 clicks. And the clicks you do get are waaaaaay at the end of the trigger stroke. I'm a bit scared to pull it apart. I have visions of springs and pieces flying everywhere on disassembly.
Are they rebuidable? Is something broken? Or just out of adjustment? Will SRAM take care of him? Can his shop fix the problem? Or should I just dive in?
LOL. Thanks! I was afraid of that. But it's my buddy's dad that is screwed.
I'm intrigued by your handle/avatar. Just a fan? A stalker? Or.... are you her? If so, I ran into you once while shooting a film in Ely, NV with Nora Jones. Nice to see you again.
If you check out my posts in the Sram forum you will see that a Sram Xo Trigger is rather complicated inside. I dont mean to be rude but if your not mechanically minded i would refrane from opening one up - if you do it wrong it can be stressfull putting it back together - however i do reguarly do it for people lol - its ok when you know how.
Anyhow - for best results take it back to the place of purchase. It sounds like the ratchet is faulty or the teeth aren't catching. If the place of purchase fail to help give Sram a phone (if your USA Based) and they should give you some help.

LOL, no worries - everybody has problems with some parts no matter how good a wrench they are.
But you should get it sorted no problems.
