    New question here. Jamis Exile 29 er -1X9 setup- some issues

    I measured the chain length properly and running a 9speed cassette. I have a lot of chain slap going on and the chain very often falls of in the front. It doesnt appear the chain is too long as it is quite taut when on the largest ring.

    this bike has horizontal dropouts with a hanger used when going geared.

    assuming you are running a singlespeed front chainring, chain skip will depend on your chainline between your chainring and the middle cog of the rear cassette. the straighter, the less skip. a short cage rear derailleur would really help a lot or you could alternately sandwich the chainring: and
