    Home made bash guard

Can any one tell me the out to out dimensions of a 36 and 38 tooth ring gear in inches? I'm not paying 40 to 50 bucks on a bash guard

    Get one and measure it.
You'll also need the BCD for mounting.

I have the BCD, the chainrings on order, it's coming on my new bike I may see it sometime next month, BBG is out of stock on the one I need. Sorry about the triple thread the mtbr webpage always takes forever to load for some reason.Yesterday the servers decided to crash twice while I was trying to post this. Didn't notice till the third try thanks.

I made my own on my older bike. I used T6-6061 aluminum. I think it was 3mm thick, but I cannot remember. All I did to make it was trace the holes from the big ring I took off and then I designed it to fit perfectly with my middle ring.

I love making my own parts by hand when I can.

That's sweet. I think I'll call the bike shop to get the out to out. Lay out all the angles on a piece of 3/4 plywood to make a jig. Maybe router some of the exposed edges to dress it up a little.

Laid out, drilled and chamfered, couldn't get my chamfer bit to keep from chattering... oh well should be done with it tomorrow.
