any thoughts would be much appreciated. i am inclined to go with the Gore cables simply because i have used them in the past...

Switched to standard bulk full length SIS housing with a teflon coated cable and it works fine. No need to spend the $$ on Gore.

The trouble with common sense is it is no longer common

Honestly, I've used both, functionally can't tell a difference. I have since gone to the flack jackets and have the same results at a lower cost. If you're going purely for function, I see no reason to get more than jackets, if you want a little bling + function, get the Nokons.

Jagwire L3 here. No need to spend more money on housing if you ask me.

I have the Gore stuff right now and I'm not very pleased with its performance especially for the price. I wouldn't recommend Gore. I've have good luck with Jagwire, Shimano, and SRAM cable kits though.
