Please explain gearing pertaining to the rear cassete. I am looking for lowest posible for steep climbing. 12-34, 11-34 What does it all mean?
12-34 ==> The smallest cog is a 12 tooth cog. The largest is 34.

34 is pretty much the largetst rear you're going to find. So if you're looking for lower gearing, you will have to use smaller front chainrings. Depending on which type of cranks you have, you'll be limited on this end to about a 22 or so. If you run 94/58mm compact drive (5 bolt stuff), then it's possible to get 20 tooth grannies and even 29-30 tooth middle rings.
Hope that helps.
Thanks it does.
