Front and rear derailleur Question and clarification..Help :)
So I am relatively new to the sport, but ride a whole lot (4-5 days a week)
My question is, what is the "real world" difference between, lets say a X7 Front derailleur and a XTR one? or lets say an XTR rear derailleur and a XO or XX?
Is it the feel of the shift? the speed?
I have a X7 front and XTR rear.
Just wondering whats the actual differences are.
Sorry if this question is stupid.
Appreciate any answers.
A few grams and bling points with your friends. I have x7 shifters, x7 fd and x9 rd. I may spend $120 and get a xo right shifter, but everything else will stay stock until it breaks. I'm sure sram and shimano love selling xtr and xx stuff to weekend amateurs, but for most people I can't imagine that there's much functional benefit.
Generally the higher end stuff has tighter tolerances, better seals and materials....

They certainly cost more.
Lots of people say run junk stuff in the winter etc...I run XTR, it has lasted 5 years plus and 30,000km, no way a junker can make that life....
If I compare the performance weight and life to a junker I end up liking the high end better.
BTW XTR shifters are noticable better than anything else out there.
