    Front Derailleur upgrade

My bike has a SRAM X7 rear derailleur and shifters as for my front derailleur it is a Shimano Deore. I had seen a Sram X0 front derailluer for sale on a website for about half of what it seems to sell for. My question is would the upgrade make any sort of noticeable difference? I'm not as familiar with Shimano's quality levels as I am Sram so I'm not sure as to what quality grade the Deore would be considered as. I was also wondering what type I would need and therein if this was the right type (High/Low Clamp) all I know is that my rear derailleur is a long cage.

Deore would be equivalent to Sram x5. SLX ( shimano ) is equivalent to Sram x7.

A deore should work well. Probably just needs a small adjustment, either cable, lower limit screw or position. Check out parktool and watch some youtube vids. It might take a couple attempts to get it right. Take your time and don't get discouraged.

I don't think you could tell the difference without reading the labels or putting both derailleurs on a scale.

Front derailleurs are the weakest part of the drivetrain. Because they shift on the loaded section of the chain (where your power is transferred to the rear wheel) no front derailleur works that well. The most recent series of SRAM FD's seem to be a lot better, however the XX and XO are designed for 2 rings up front. This will be your main issue if you want to upgrade - figuring out if the derailleur is designed for 1 shift or 2.
