Fifteen G Bottom Bracket Installation Problems.

    Hi Guys,

I have recently purchased a Fifteen G crankset to install on an new Ibis Tranny frame. When I try and install the BB adapters (by hand) they are only threading a few turns and then stopping

    - Neither drive side nor non-drive side will install.
    - Threads have been properly greased.
    - I have an old Shimano BB which installs with no issues.

This is a brand new frame and although the BB shell has not been 'chased', the easy installation of the Shimano BB would seem to indicate that it is not necessary.

Could you please advise where my problem might lie

    Cheers,

Is there a stripe of thread locker compound around the BB cup threads like this Shimano BB?

No they're absolutely clean. It's almost like the thread is wrong but the installation instructions mention BSA 1.37 x 24TPI BB threading which is the standard British BB...

Have you got another frame sitting around to see if they thread into a different BB shell?

    Sorted!

Finally built up the nerve to use my torque wrench. Went in perfectly - just a hell of a lot more friction than I was expecting. Thanks for your help
