DuraAce Not Compatible on 8spd XTR Cassette

For you diehard 8spd'ers like me...I found that the DuraAce rear der's will not work on an 8spd 11-32 cassette. I used the latest 10spd, triple ring compatible der too. Even with the b-tension screw set all the way in, no go. The largest cog on the cassette rides on the upper pulley of the der.

Now I'm tempted to get one of those new SRAM 2006 XO short/mini cage der. But at $248 retail, I think I'll live with a med cage XTR until its worn out.

The XT short cage derailuer works on that cog spread. They are cheap too, about $40 for the 8speed model and $80 for the 9speed, if I remember the prices right.

ah, i forgot to mention, that what i was after is the short cage der. my old xtr short cage was the best shifting der i've ever had. thats why the SRAM XO would be perfect, but forget it for that ridiculous price!
