    Dura-Ace rear derailleur compatibility

it is compatible with others? 8, 9 or 10 speed usually are compatible. I tried one in my 8 speed bike and didn't work, and I changed the cable position to "the other side of the bolt" and works!! Look at:

The derailleur doesn't matter. The shifter needs to match the cassette. Fahn

Some of the Dura-Ace stuff has compatibility issues, and there is the alternate cable anchor position on Shimano derailleurs as you've found (like this http://www.sheldonbrown.com/dura-ace.html#alternate). What's the rest of your setup beside the derailleur?

hi, the shifter obviously matches the cassette (both 8 speed), and I've seen before that page of Sheldon's website and don't work in that position. The problem is about that derailleur (RD-7800), previously I used in the same bike an RD-6600 Ultegra 10 s. and worked perfectly.

This is the "alternate position" in Sheldon's page and don't work (that position is NOT much different than the standard in the "groove". See:

Was just curious what your setup was; as far as compatibility hard to say without knowing specifics about the setup. Posted up the Sheldon info on Dura-Ace compatibility (not just the pics) in case it helped.
