    Drivetrain transplant worth it?

I'm currently in the process of relocating to Sydney from Beijing for university and as of recent I have purchased a new second hand hardtail XC Merida bike therefore meaning that I have 2 bikes, both entry level hardtails. Looking at the specs of both bikes I was wondering if a drivetrain transplant would be worth the trouble from the old bike to the new bike.

Btwin 09 Rockrider 5.3 (old - in Beijing)
    Chainset - Suntour XCM 302 22x32x42
    Shifters - SRAM X-5 9V
    Front Derailleur - Shimano C050
    Rear Derailleur - SRAM X-5
    Chain - SRAM PC951
    Cassette - 9 Speed K7 SRAM

Merida Matts TFS XC 100-D (new)
    Chainset - Shimano M311 42-32-22 CG
    Shifters - Shimano SL-M360 Rapidfire
    Front Derailleur - Shimano M310 34.9-42T
    Rear Derailleur - Shimano Alivio
    Chain - Shimano CN-HG50
    Cassette - Shimano CS-HG40-8 11-32

Because supposedly based off a quick google search the X-5 performs better than the Alivio? Also an extra gear. Just need some more opinions on X-5 vs Alivio.
