    Ditched my 38 ring for 34 on 2 x 10. Awesome!

Sold my 38 tooth ring from XT 785, 2 x 10. Put on new 34 from Blackspire. Now I am loving new bike! Turner 5 Spot. So, I am running 34 26 front, and 11 36 rear. Used this setup for 3 rides and it is superior to stock, and only cost $16 after selling other chainring. I use the 34 as much as the 26 now.

Funny, I just switched from a 32 to a 36 for my middle ring and it's awesome. But it takes a few rides to figure out the new gears.,

    Glad yours worked out

How's the shifting between the small and big gear now with the Blackspire? Is it as crisp as stock? I may try one of their rings if I don't get my Middleburn 36 to shift right.

Shifting is fine as the "Blackspire Super Pro 104/34" is ramped and pinned, also smaller than 38 so that probably helps. This is for 26 inch wheels. Where I ride, there are a few trails where you have to have granny or you are walking, so 1 x 10 is useless. This 26 and 34 front is sweet! Additionally, I use the large front ring now when riding fast uphill on easy grades. It pretty much is the same as my old 3 x 10 middle ring (32). Now I love the the 2 x 10. I used Sheldon Browns gear calculator before buying into 2 x 10 setup for new bike, and it never looked right with 38 big ring. NOW it works! I think new SLX double has a 36, which is good. Invest in stainless ring bolts, I re-used aluminum and do not feel good about it. Used torque wrench, but should have at least used blue thread lock.

I'm lovin the rebirth of microdrive on my 26 carbon hardtail. X0 w 24/38 rings and 11-32 cassette with XTR dual release shifters checks all the boxes. Makes me wonder what 44/11 was ever for or if I'm just older and wiser. Nice to finally use all the gears and be crossed up a lot less.
