Looked over tech docs but still no clue. Deore 530 RD seem to be a low-normal one while 510 is standard, do the numbers designate compatibility with RD?
I believe the 530 is just a newer model. The Shimano site shows the current new model is 590.
I don't think they make a trigger model specifically for rapid rise. I used the same shifter for both rr and reg. rise. The only difference is that the display works in the reverse direction. I believe they make two models of the dual control shifter - one for each type der.
I should have added in my earlier post that the right shifter's triggers work in reverse when used with a rapid rise der. The finger trigger will go to a lower gear instead of a higher gear. Since this action matches that of the front shifter, it seemed more intuitive to me as a beginner.
By dual-action I meant the ability to operate the index-finger lever with both the index finger and the thumb on the m530, not the actual "dual-control" shifters, and btw I have them on one of my bikes and tend to like them.
