    Crank Length and Gear Ratio

If I am currently running a 25 / 9 gearing on my bike with 170mm cranks,
will changing to 28 / 9 gearing and 175mm cranks make my bike easier or harder to pedal?

I feel like adding longer crank arms will give me more leverage, making it easier to pedal.
But do I need a larger sprocket or larger driver to make it harder to pedal?

Crank arms should be of a length thats comfortable to you. Im riiight on the line of being comfortable on 175's, and do currently ride them, but my other bike with 170's feels like it fits much better.

Neither is particularly easier or harder to pedal. You do have a little more leverage, but if the length makes it harder on your body to pedal that is a bit irrelevant.

Ultimately, what are you trying to gain by the swap?

Im installing a longer more comfortable cranks and want to increase how hard it is to pedal the bike. Its a little to easy the way it is.

I bought 177mm cranks thinking I had 175mm. Found out the other day i may actually have 170mm already, so I have made a fairly big jump in length and will need to sort that out later.

Got a deal on a 28T sprocket so Il see how it works out soon. I just wanted to make sure that a bigger sprocket is what I needed.

In that case, yup, bigger front sprocket makes it harder to pedal/you go faster for the same cadence.
