    Crank arm/pedal issues

I have some shimano spd pedals on my bike and want to switch to platform pedals for a safer ride on some of the harder trails. I tried mounting my old pedals and they were cross threading. I've turned a lot of wrenches and this isn't a common issue. Is this something you've experienced and can I just retap the crank arm or do I need to buy another?

    thanks,
    Tyler

    Weird.

First thoughts are you inadvertently switched your left and right pedals, or maybe your old pedals have a 1/2" spindle.

You can get taps for both sides, so you could chase the threads. Finding a left-hand tap could be tricky. And TBH, I don't know the pitch.

Mmm. If you've cross-threaded the pedal boss all the way in I'd replace the cranks. The threads will be gubbed and they're under way too much stress to get away with it.

I thought I had done that at first but rechecked before I tightened it back on. They're on the correct sides. Guess I'll try and get some new crank arms.
