    crank

I just picked up an older diamondback sorrento real cheap, and I'm trying to get it ridable for my wife. Anyway, the crank bearings are loose as a goose and I pulled the crank arms to get at the bearings to pack or replace them and I cant get the bottom bracket nut loose. It is the kind with internal splines. Any tips on how to get it loose. I've tried about everything possible to not damage it to break it loose. Thanks.

Are you using the correct tool? Are you turning the correct direction to remove? This link might help:
