Compagnolo chain on mountain bike?

I've got a Campagnolo Record C9 chain (high end chain from campagnolo)...wondering if I can use it on my mountain bike. I've got a 9 speed drive train (SRAM Powerglide II cassette, XT rear deraileur, Bontrager stock cranks). Currently there is a Shimano IG Narrow chain on it, which I need to change as it is quite used.

Shimano IG was 8 speed only so I assume your actually using a HG chain on your 9 speed drivetrain. Shimano 9 speed chains are 6.6mm wide while the C9 is 6.8mm wide. This is the same width as SRAM 9 speed chains so it should work fine.

so if the size fits, its ok? do you think there will be any effect on performance? any effect due to the rougher condition a mtb chain faces vs a road one?
Shimano and SRAM 9 speed chains are not Road or MTB specific so I doubt there would be any issues with the C9 either.
