    clicking sound when i pedal

I recently took my bike in for a minor tune up, and now that I've got it back I notice a clicking sound when I pedal. the sound is only when I am pedaling, not coasting. also the clicking becomes more prevalent the harder i pedal, if i pedal lightly, no sound. I have no idea where this sound is coming from, it's also a fairly new bike (airborne goblin), any ideas?

    Worn cleats. Been there.

Oops didn't finish reading. Maybe it's worn cleats if you're on the same ones from the previous bike.

Check the front derailleur cable isn't hitting a crankarm.

that was my initial thought, but no its not. its odd to me that it only happens when my weight is applied

Check to see if the cranks are firmly attached to bottom bracket. Check bottom bracket play in the BB shell. You might hear these things only when you're applying pressure.

Re: clicking sound when i pedal

Did you grease the pedals and torque them down?

How are the pedals? Do they need service?

    Are they crank brothers?

Are you certain the click is coming from the pedal/crank area?

Isolate the sound it could be your chain clicking against the cassette cogs because the cable is a little too tight and trying to shift to the next bigger cog.

If it is the crank area follow the previous suggestions- ride with out being clipped in perhaps with street shoes.

no im not certain its coming from the pedal/crank area, its hard for me to pinpoint where the sound is coming but thats my hypothesis. I have platform pedals also btw

What is the frequency of the "clicking"? Is it once a revolution of the crank? Is it in all gears? Is it like a rapid "tick tick tick" sound?

If it's once a revolution with the cranks, then it could be things like the front derailleur being hit as the crank goes around. Or, it could be the BB in the bottom bracket shell? Or, it could be the interface between the crank and the spindle. What kind of crankset/spindle do you have?

If it's that "tick tick tick" kind of sound, it could be just a slight mis-alignment of the derailleur's jockey wheel and the cassette cog. This causes the chain to sort of bounce as it goes from the jockey wheel to the cassette's tooth. Adjustment for this is a mild adjustment of the barrel adjustment knob to either tighten or loosen the cable just a slight bit.

Good luck with that, let us know what you find.
