    Choosing a new crank

I've decided to upgrade the crank on my '09 gary fisher wahoo as the stock one is officially busted. I've been looking around and have found these two:

    SLX 44/32/22
    http://www.blueskycycling.com/produc...om-Bracket.htm

    SLX Bash/36/22
    http://www.competitivecyclist.com/pr...-5426.6.1.html

I don't ever use my large ring so I'm not concerned about loosing that, I just wonder how much different the 36T "middle" ring will be from the 32T middle ring. I know its hard to describe the difference, I guess what I'm looking for is something like "36T up front and 32T in back is similar to 32T up front and X in back." Is there a site or conversion chart that would be able to answer this for me?

    Thanks

36/32 is close to 32/28 according to the chart

As a follow up, will I need a different front derailluer given the difference in ring sizes? The stock is a Shimano Acera.

No...just set the limit screw on the derailleur so it can't shift past the "middle" ring if using the 2 ring setup.
