cheapest 2x10 setup??
Ok, I have the 2x10 bug, but don't have lotsa dinero. My current setup is a 1x9, 33 ring up front and 11-32 cogs out back. I'm still having a little trouble makin the hills at Blankets. I was thinking that a lower front ring (22 or so) and a extra low cog out back would help. Any thoughts or ideas? THNX.
Can't make the hills at Blankets? I do em with a 38 ring and a 11-34.
SRAM X.7 2x10 stuff is cheap. A set of shifters can be had for less than $50 easily. Same with the rear derailleur. On chainlove recently they were around $40 each.
As for the cranks, XC doubles are usually running around $100...
Of course you can always take a standard triple crankset and take the big ring off. You might need a bigger middle ring though, commonly 36t.
For specific double cranks, you can also check ebay or the classifieds.
Another option is cranks aimed at downhill riders, such as Truvativ Hussefelt cranks. They're usually cheaper, but you need the right bottom bracket. And they're heavier.
Cassettes start around $50 new (Sram pg1050/1070, Shimano HG81). You can also check ebay or the classifieds.
