Which chainring do I need to replace my bash guard?

I've been doing a lot more street riding lately. I've swapped my knobbed tires for Schwalabe Big Apples and I'd like to ditch my bash guard in favor of a bit more gearing so I can cruise faster on the road.

I did a little digging and I believe what I want is a 4 bolt 44t 104mm. My crank setup is below. I was wondering the following:

Does it need to be a RaceFace chainring or will shimano, truvativ, etc work?
Whats the best place i.e. inexpensive place to score one?
Anything else I should keep in mind before buying one?

A 42t or 44t would work fine, may need to adjust your front derailleur accordingly. You are not required to use a Race Face. However it would be best if you used the same brand ring and your middle ring so the ramps and pins line up for the smoothest shifting. Shimano rings require a little metal work with a file or grinder to fit on Race Face cranks.
