Chain ?
Hey Folks I got a noob Question about my Chain. I put my chain in a jar of citrus degreaser for about an hour then took it out and rinsed it off with water and set it out to dry. A couple of hours later I go to put it back on my bike and it had rust on it around the rollers. I took it and set it out on newspaper and put chain lube on it and ran it through a rag and it looks cool. My ? is . Should I Toss It ? Is this Rust something that is already too deep inside the rollers. Man This Is The First Time I've Cleaned My Chain This Way And I Thought One Hour Wouldn't Cause It To Rust..My Bad ! Can anyone give me some advise on this please...Sorry for the long read and many many Thanx.

Yeah, that'll happen if you strip all the lube off a chain and then leave it wet. I only do that thorough a clean when its good drying weather. Anyway, if it only had a bit of surface oxidation on it for a few hours then lube it up and continue to use - no real harm done!

After cleaning and rinsing my chain, I wrap it around the radiator, in the winter. In the summer, it goes into the toaster oven for 10 minutes.

Yea I've read people talking about baking their chain and stuff like that. I allways just lube it and run it through a rag while it's on the bike but It still ends up with some grit in it. I've been going through the chain lube too $. I put a new rear derailleur on my bike so I figured I'd try degreaser. Just have to be careful and quick with that stuff. I actually googled to see if rust is contagious, some say yes some say no.. Oh well...Chains back on and relubed...

You can also either blow it off with air, or hit it with wd40 then wipe off.
