cassette slinding, not locking. (moved from wheels and tyres)

    Hi guys,

I got an Easton Vice XLT that today had been mounted with the cassette of my previous bike. when I came to close it, instead of locking, it kept sliding without locking.

I converted them from 11 spd to 10 with new flyoff and spacer.

does any one have an idea why does it happen?

    thanks

I've heard that some hubs sold for SRAM 11 speed are longer than Schimano 11 speed or SRAM/schimano 10-speed hubs. I'd just go to the LBS and buy a spacer, or grab a plastic spacer from an old 9 or 8-speed cassette you have sitting in the basement. throw it onto the freehub before you put on the cassette, and it should work fine.

Hard to understand this post. What's a flyoff?

You converted from 11 speed to 10. If it was Sram 11 speed then it has completely different freehub configuration (XD driver) and you can not throw a 10 speed casstte on it.
SRam 11 speed mountain cassettes thread onto the back of the XD driver and the 11th gear is in the spot where the lock ring would be on a 10 speed. They don't use a lock ring on the end of a cassette. This allows the small diameter 10T cog that you can not accomplish with a regular freehub.

So if that is the situation you need to remove the XD driver and install a regular free hub body. It should be interchangable on the Easton hubs.

I thought there were some SRAM 11-speed cassettes that stayed with the 11T as the smallest cog. Mostly hear about the XD driver and 10T though.
