    cassette replacement help

    Hey,

Just got some new wheels yesterday and I was thinking maybe its worth it to keep my old set completely ready to ride as a spare.

That case I'd have to grab a new cassette for the new wheels.
Is there much of a difference in cassettes? Meaning is it worth paying for an XT if compatible or are there better other options?

SRAM PG-1030, 10-speed, 11-36t thats my current one.

Custom SRAM S-1250, 7050 alloy arms, 10-speed XC double,
    PF30 spindle, 15.5": 170mm, Others: 175mm
this is the stock crank I have.

    its for a 2012 stumpjumper 29er hardtail

Also what about the chain then if I upgraded to a different cassette?

    Thanks

Keeping your old wheels to use as spares makes sense. Buying a new cassette does not. Swapping cassettes takes only minutes. For a fraction of the cost of a new cassette, you can buy the tools to do it yourself.

Amazing! I'd prefer not to have to buy a cassette. I just need a special tool right?

Yeah typically you need a chain whip and the right wrench for the lock nut holding your cassette on.
