Bottom Bracket Question
I am riding a 2007 Stumpjumper that currently has truvativ firex cranks and I believe a GXP bottom bracket. I am looking to upgrade to a FSA SL-K crankset with a BB30 bottom bracket.
Will there be any fitment issues? Will I need any other parts. I am new to the BB30 setup.
If your Stumpy actually has a GXP BB set-up, you will not be able to put a BB30 cranks in your frame.
Try to pound a 30mm peg into a 24mm hole to see why.
Any reason why you're fixated on the SL-K crank? You need to look for a standard 2 piece crank.
Found a great deal on CL. I just am looking for a nice upgrade. My chain-rings are nearly worn out and the Firex cranks were pretty dang ugly new, and now they are beat up.

So just to verify, I should be looking for a crankset that will fit a threaded gxp bottom bracket?
I am interested in Sram XX, XO, X9 as well as SLX, XT, XTR.
Yes, you need a cranks that is compatible with a threaded BB shell. That basically only rules out anything that says BB30.
All of the Shimano cranks you mention will work (Shimano doesn't do BB30 at all), and all of the SRAM cranks come in a GXP version that will work on your bike as well.
Any other suggestions?
Apologies for newbie questions! I have a GXP as well... How would I go about getting a Shimano crankset(new SLX or XT probably) to fit that BB? Also... If the my derailleurs and all are Sram and I put a Shimano crank on the bike, how workable is the setup?
Thanks in advance
Changing the crank should not affect the rest of the drivetrain.
