Bolt size for a square tapper BB?

What is the bolt size for a square tapper BB. I have a spin bike at home that me and my wife bought that is missing the bolt. My bike store doent have in stock right now and so I am going to the hardwear store to get a bolt and washer for a temp. fix.

On Shimano, I believe it is fine thread M8. Most of the hardware stores will probably carry the most common M8 X 1.25 coarse.

You can get a pair for $3 online.

but if you go the hardware store route make sure they have a flange behind the bolt head to properly push the crank arm onto the spindle, or use an appropriate washer; BTW the bolt heads are predominantly 14mm these days...
