Bashguard - Gary Fisher Rumblefish I

I posted this in the GF forum as well, probably will get a quicker response here...

I ordered a BBG Bashguard to replace the 44t ring. I plan to try keeping the 32t middle ring.

If I decide i need to increase the size of the middle ring to 36t, will i have to replace the front derailleur? the specs for the SLX direct mount that i have state a middle to top ring capacity of 12t. Since i'm looking at the small to middle capacity of 14t (with the 22x36), does the 12t limit apply there as well?

Also, it doesn't seem that Shimano makes their double specific SLX derailleur in the direct mount style - so any other options there?

Finally, a 34t ring would possibly work too, but i'm having trouble finding one. thoughts?

You SLX would work just fine.

    Ditto.

I run a BBG Bashguard on my Rumblefish I as well, it works great. And the SLX derailleur has enough clearance to run the rings you're contemplating.

Here it is - trying to keep the 32t ring. It probably is suffficient on the trail, but i may want a little more top end on fire roads or fast double track. I think a 36 is too much, so a 34 would be perfect, but they are hard to find.

I'm running mine with a 22 - 36 on the front rings with a bashguard. Mine has the 10 sped slx front derailleur. the shifting works alright, I get chain rub in the 36 x 34 ratio (9 speed set up with 10 speed chain), and the chain will rub on the bottom of the front derailleur if I drop it down into the smaller cogs in the back, but that's not too much of an issue for me.
