bar end/sti 9 speed mt bike capability
First I apologize if this has already been covered, but I did a search on STI and bar end in this forum and got nowhere.
Question- would any older STI 9 speed shifter/brake road system work to shift 950 XTR 27 speed stuff
If not, what specific bar ends would I need (all i see is dura-ace 9 speed that seems a little overkill)
They will shift the rear derailleur no problem, road Brifters use a different pull ratio on the front derailleur so it is not a perfect match with a mtn front derailleur.
9 speed barcons will work great for the rear and the front (since they are friction for the front).
You would need a triple front STI shifter. it works pretty well with the mtb FD is you put the cable on the other side of the anchor bolt.
