New question here. Bar end shifter compatibility question (Shimano)

So I just got my used bar end shifters off ebay and was curious on compatibility. They say they're compatible with RD-7700 and RD-7400. Am I guessing this is for SIS mode? And can I use SIS mode on any other Shimano Rear der? I will be using a Nashbar MTN rear der which is compatible with all Shimano parts I am told.

Sounds like 9 sp. If it is then they'll only index with a 9 sp cassette. In friction they'll work with anything. Good luck

It will only shift the RD-7400 8 speed, but will shift any other Shimano derailleur (except Dynasys 10 speed) 9 speed.
