I really like running 3x9 transmission. I use granny frequently and also the big ring. With grip shifts, front shifting works fine. I've got this setup on several bikes and like being able to swap parts when something goes bad. Plus I like only stocking spare chains, rings, cassettes and so on for 1 setup.
Anyway, looking to get a SRM power meter (FSA crankset). These things are expensive, so I don't want to end up with something that is obsolete (hard to get high quality replacement parts): xo grip shifts, xo RD, FD not a concern, good cassettes. I doubt rings will be a problem, lots of ring manufacturers.
Also, is it likely that newer frames are likely to become incompatible with a 3x9 setup?
Thanks a lot
