Anyone try Race Face's new narrow wide profile rings?

Looks like I will be able to lose my chain guide. Do I need one of the new clutch style rear derailleurs to make this work? I am running a 1x10 setup with an XO sc rear der. with a 33t ring, KMC chain, and a 12-36 cassette.

I have one and it has been flawless for a couple hundred miles so far. I run a shimano shadow rear though and would think a clutch derailleur would be a crucial part of the overall chain retention.

Yes, I use a hardtail exclusively. Not that my chain came off very often prior to the new ring but it seems to be glued to it now. It has noticeably less "slap" in my opinion.

My concern is my lack of a SRAM Type 2 reaf derailleur. I may just try it without and see...not much to lose.

Anyone try Race Face's new narrow wide profile rings?

I run SRAM X9 type 2 with a WolfTooth on my Giant. No drops on any of the trails around town. Not using a chain guide either

Did you get hold of a race face narrow wide chainring?

I'm mid way through putting my EVO HT back together with 32t R/F ring. Want be able to try out yet as fox forks had to go back for warranty issue.

Love the bike, only had it for a few months (2012 model).

I'll post some pics and spec as to what ive done so far on the offical stumpjumper EVO HT thread

I was running a regular race face 34t chain ring with a XT clutch derailluer on my transAM with zero problems. I think I dropped a chain 2 times and both were from back pedalling. Fast forward to the past month I just upgraded to a Yeti SB66 with the same drivetrain. I was continually dropping chains with the clutch derailluer and a MRP top (XC style) chain guide, it was frustrating. The SB66 has an abnormal chain growth pattern, so when using full travel the derailluer can do some funny things. So I ordered a raceface narrow wide and with 3 rides it has been flawless under aggressive riding. Even back pedaling after drops and rock gardens hasn't dropped a chain. I've actually contemplated removing the top guide, but that extra 97g won't kill me on my 32 lb beast.

Good review on pinkbike. I have not tried it yet. My friend has a ibis ripley with 32t raceface narrow wide and xtr shadow plus, he rides aggressively, still drop chain. So he put back the top guide. I may get one soon, I dont ride that aggressively., should be good for me.

I'd like to try one of these but I'm a little confused by the "Crank Tab Thickness", "Shim/No Shim", and "M8 Bolt Thread Length" matrix guide on the Raceface site:

    http://www.raceface.com/comp/pdf/30T...LITY_CHART.pdf

Maybe I'm being overly optimistic but I was hoping I could slap a 30T version of this on my bike using the existing hardware and be good to go. Can anyone help me understand the hardware and shims that I might need? Here's the bike that it would be going on:
