Adjusting "B" Tension screw on a XT rear derailleur

So my "B" tension screw broke on my XT rear derailleur, along with bending my hanger, but thats a different story, and not just the screw but the whole bracket its attached to. I have since replaced it with a new one but when I go to adjust it, the derailleur cog doesn't move off the low gear on the cassette, it doesn't move at all. What am I doing wrong?

You might want to open it up again and check whether there are two possible spring holes in the derailleur's "knuckle." If there are, see if the end of the spring can be moved to one that'll cause the spring to get wound-up tighter. I don't recall whether some/all XTs have such a feature, but since you have the knack of working on that part, it couldn't hurt to look :)
