So my "B" tension screw broke on my XT rear derailleur, along with bending my hanger, but thats a different story, and not just the screw but the whole bracket its attached to. I have since replaced it with a new one but when I go to adjust it, the derailleur cog doesn't move off the low gear on the cassette, it doesn't move at all. What am I doing wrong?
Sorry, dont have a dig camera. But the spring is wound up, once I insert it, twist it counter-clockwise until the two tabs are just past each other then put that clip to hold it in place.
You might want to open it up again and check whether there are two possible spring holes in the derailleur's "knuckle." If there are, see if the end of the spring can be moved to one that'll cause the spring to get wound-up tighter. I don't recall whether some/all XTs have such a feature, but since you have the knack of working on that part, it couldn't hurt to look
I did look and there is just the one hole for the spring to fit in. You think maybe the spring itself is worn?, less wind up ?
