9 speed chain on 10 speed ring - vice versa

Sorry if this is a rehashed topic. I think the search function is one of those tricks for keeping an idiot occupied.

I'm looking into a smaller ring for 2 bikes, both are 34 t single ring up front. My loaner bike is a 11-32 9 spd cassette, and the bike I use is 12-36 10 spd.

Since both will be getting new rings, I want to do an experiment with a cheapo 30t on my main bike, throw that on the loaner, and replace it with a 30 or 32 wolf tooth ring.

Would there be any issue running a 10 speed chain on a 9 speed ring for a few rides, or 9 speed chain with 10 speed ring for a lot longer?
