    747 / 959 Pedal Question

I have been using 747s for years and been happy with them. Lately I have felt a certain looseness which may be the cleats wearing out Its more of an up and down motion than side to side.

I just saw some 959s on close out and saw they have good reviews here.

    A few questions:
    1) Do 747s and 959s use the same cleat? Is there a cleat that works well with both pedals? (I may keep the 747s for another bike)

    2) I guess there is a new 970 out that also has good reviews. Any dramatic differences between the 959 and 970?

    3) And finally: Should I even stick with Shimano, or consider going with egg-beaters? I like having a bit of a platform.

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

    1. Yes, you can use the "51's" (single release) cleat for the 747 and 959.
    2. The differences are mostly weight and XTR graphics. They are functionally the same.
