    2X9 rings

I have a set of the shimano 760 XT cranks and want to convert it to a 2X9. I am looking for rings to do it, something like a 27/40 combo. Any ideas, reccomendations?

I use a 30-40 combo on those same cranks. Both on the 104 (largest BCD). If you have a 11-34 freewheel, you can get a 94.5-22.9 gear inch range. the 22.9 is plenty low for climbing, and the 94.5 should let you pedal up to 35mph or so. i find it to be a great all mountain setup. I believe there is no situation that a low gear (22.9) cant handle. If its too high, do some squats.

blackspires. They are about a buck a tooth. LOL. seriously though, I paid about 30 for the 30T, and about 40 for the 40T. I would recommend using the largest BCD always on a 2x9 setup. I could never find a gear bigger than 28 with the small (64) BCD. If I did, I would probably have an issue with chain stay clearance, and I would have to get a longer BB spindle.
    Good Luck
