    2x10 Conversion Question

Just finished converting my 3x10 to a 2x10 setup (rear mid cage XT derailleur, XT shifters and bash guard). Thought I'd try keeping / using the existing 3x10 E-Type front derailleur. Problem being, I can't drop the derailleur so its closer to the middle chainring. Thus it lags when shifting from the lower cog to the middle ring. My question is: Will a 2x10 E-Type derailleur work (spacing wise) on a 3x10 crank ? If so, will a 2x10 derailleur make a difference ?

It should still shift as good as it did before if you just removed the big ring and replaced it with a bash. Did you do anything to the FD besides adjusting the high limit?

In response to shifting as before... Prior to doing this conversion I was running Sram XO shifters and a X9 RD (again 3x10). The front derailleur is a SLX E-Type. The FD has always lagged behind the rear (shift wise) as thats the nature of the beast. Based on the new component's XT shifters and RD (which, I am very pleased with). I want a address the FD's shifting issue.

Ok if it shifts up fine but lags on the downshift I'd suspect a contaminated cable or housing. If the cable and housing are new you may have a burr on the housing that's causing the problem.
