    105 5701 chain with xt group

    Both are 10sp.Will this work??a friend has a couple of brand new ones for giveaway and I wouldnt want to junk a perfectly brand new chain while I could use it on my roadbike

    I've tried to search for older post for this and I probably didnt do a good job of trying to locate any or there wasnt any

    Short answer is it will work ok. However the road and mountain chains from Shimano are not only asymmetrical but different for road and mountain. They work OK in the wrong group but if you have a road bike you can use the road chain on why not go buy the right chain for your mountain bike?

    thanks for the reply...yup it makes sense to use the chain on my roadie....but i prefer to use ultegra chain on mine....guess it doesnt hurt to try the 105 on my roadie
