10 Speed Chain on 9 Speed Chain Rings?

I want to convert my Pugsley from 9 speed to 10 speed. I have all the parts I need (shifter, cassette, chain) except for the chain rings. Do I really need to swap out the 9 speed rings for 10 speed?

The only real reason I ask is I'm a cheap bastard and the original 9 speed rings are still in great shape and I don't want to take them off if I can get more use from them

You're good. No need for new rings.

I ran 10sp chains on my 9sp full drivetrain with no issues.

It works fine, I've run 10 speed drivetrain with a 9 speed crank. I would advise to swap out the 9 speed FD with a 10 speed one, they are narrower and matched to the chain. In my experience it was less fiddly to set up and generally better front shifting than with the 9 speed one

So I'm running 2x9 now, what do I need to change to go 2x10?
Chain, cassette, and R. shifter obviously.
