    10 spd chain recomendations?

Broke my 10-spd chain for the second time tonight. The first time was my fault for a bad shift, this time I hadn't shifted, I just stood to crank a hill and bam. Trying to put it back together the pin wasn't aligned properly because it's kind of a weird shape and broke my chain tool. It was fussy before. I think Shimano says you're supposed to use a special pin.

It was right at the beginning of some sweet trails I hadn't ridden before. I told the group to go ahead and I pushed/coasted back to the shop where we parked.

Any recommendations for a good 10 spd chain that is field serviceable? I'm running Shimano SLX DynaSys 3x10.

KMC X10 chains, and carry an extra quick link for trailside repairs.

The first point to mention here is NEVER expect a chain pin to repair a chain at all. You'll need a proper shimano join pin, or a joining link. I'm sure the chain is plenty strong enough normally.

Second - if you go to the bother of having a chainbreaker in your kit, make sure you also carry one or both of the aforementioned joining methods.

I'm guessing that due to you missing out on sweet trails, you'll make sure you are fully prepared from now on.
